Singapore aims to attract $5.8 billion to boost manufacturing and economy

Singapore’s government aims to attract as much as $5.8 billion of manufacturing investment this year and hopes to generate 20,000 to 25,000 new jobs. State’s Economic Development Board also aims to attract as much as $1.8 billion in business spending from service industries this year, including information, communications and media, engineering, education and health care. Asian export industry is struggling with slowing growth in the U.S. and Japan that is damping sales of their electronic gadgets and computer chips. Singapore attracted $8.8 billion of manufacturing investment in previous year.
